The Swaraj Party openly supported itself to the Congress and supported common non-violence and non-cooperation. It was actively supported by Congress leaders like Ballabhbhai Patel, Madan Mohan Malviya and M.S.Jaykar. When the non-Cooperation Movement started, then the decision to boycott the legislatures was decided. A group headed by Chittaranjan Das, Motilal Nehru and Vithalbhai Patel believed that the Congress should participate in the elections and should be interrupted by reaching in the legislatures. The group led by Vallabhbhai Patel, C. Rajagopalachari and Rajendra Prasad opposed it.
After withdrawing the non-cooperation movement, the Congress Party was divided into two parts. When the non-co-operation movement started, the decision to boycott the legislatures was decided at that time. After withdrawing the non-co-operation movement, communal riots broke out in some parts of the country. To fight the continuation of independence and to maintain and strengthen the unity of the people, it was necessary to fight the poison of communalism. Gandhiji's untested / untouchability program was very important to end the worst evil of Indian society and to connect the Dalit class of society with freedom struggle.
